Grove Ridgerunner basketball standouts Hagen Hacker and Kristian Davis recently shared some thoughts with VYPE Magazine about their favorite memories on the court, their interests outside of school, and what it means to represent Grove High School and the community.
What grade are you in and what position do you play?
HH: I am a senior and I play point guard.
KD: A junior and guard.
Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?
HH: Ja Morant because of his work ethic and his athleticism.
KD: Russell Westbrook because of his playmaking skills and work ethic.
What has been your favorite basketball memory?
HH: Dropping 42 points and setting a school record.
KD: Playing Vinita at the Vinita tournament and hitting a big 3 to keep the game close.
What is your all-time favorite meal?
HH: Steak.
KD: The Emily Special from Rancho.
What is your favorite TV show or movie?
HH: Stepbrothers.
KD: Coach Carter, but I also like Last Chance U basketball.
What is your go-to phone app?
HH: Musi, Snapchat, or Twitter.
KD: My favorite app would probably be TikTok or Instagram.
What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
HH: Hard work beats talent when talent quits working hard.
KD: My grandma used to tell me, “Time’s not going to wait for you.”
What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
HH: Knowing that the whole town is behind me.
KD: Working hard both on and off the court and representing the name on the front to show other schools how hard we work to be there and play our best.
