Grove’s Rowan Geer – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Goodfella’s Pizzeria

Rowan Geer is a freshman at Grove High School and plays basketball for the Lady Ridgerunners.

Geer first started playing basketball in the second grade and it has been a big part of her life ever since.

Geer comes from a sporting family with Rowan’s sisters joining her in their love of hoops. Rowan’s two older sisters, Rory and Elliot, both have had successful basketball careers of their own and she is hoping to follow in their footsteps.

Rory recently graduated from high school before continuing her playing career at the next level, and Elliot is currently a senior at Grove and one of the key leaders of the team.

Rowan often turns to her family for support and advice.

“I look up to my family who inspire me to work up to my potential,” Geer said. “I watch them grow one day at a time and wish I will be able to do the same.”

As Rowan embarks on her own path this year she is looking forward to making the most of her journey and cherishing every moment along the way.

“My favorite part about being a part of a team is how well we work together on and off the court,” Geer said. “Throughout all my years of playing, every team I’ve been on, all the girls have made my time fun and enjoyable.”

Rowan has not only been having fun this year, but she’s been playing well too. At this point in the season she is the Ridgerunner’s leading scorer and looks to have a tremendous career ahead.

“My success comes from being pushed by my teammates and coaches,” Geer said. “They all have the experience that I need to be able to achieve these accomplishments.”

All of that combined energy and experience came to light in a recent matchup between Grove and Glenpool as Geer recalled.

“My favorite memory from this year was our most recent game against Glenpool,” Geer said. “We brought the energy and executed things together to bring out the win. That was the best and most fun win I think we’ve had this year because we played to our potential.”

Geer is hoping to make many more memories over the course of her next three high school years. However, she won’t just be focusing her skills on the hardwood. Outside of basketball Geer is trying out tennis for the first time this year and is excited for the new adventure. In addition to her athletic prowess Geer is also active in the Heritage Club, Character Counts, and the Interact Club.
