Coaches play a big role in the lives of their athletes. Along with helping them learn the ins and outs of the game, they also help them work hard and to become solid citizens in the community. Miami’s Gabriela Jaime says that her cheer coach has always been in her corner and helped her become the athlete she is.
“My coach Lindsey Bearden has been a great coach,” she said. “She has always believed in me and she pushes me to do my best in everything I do.”
Jaime is a sophomore at Miami High School. Along with being a cheerleader, she has also been a member of the Wardog band since she was in the sixth grade.
Along with coach Bearden, Jaime has has some other people that have always supported her and given her the focus to get the work put in.
“My parents, Victor and Gloria Jaime, are the role models that I look up to in my life,” she stated. “They are always there for me when I need them and always support me in everything I do and are always there to cheer me on. My little sister, Daniela, is probaby the biggest motivation for me because I want to be a great example for her to look up to.”
Gabriela enjoys the activities that she is involved in but she also knows that if she continues to work, she will improve more.
“I still think I have more work to do,” she said. “I think having a real love for your sport helps and dedication. I’ve made a lot of great memories both in cheer and band. A highlight in my career was getting to do cheer and band with Justus Barley, who I became very close with.”
There are times when Jaime has some down time. During those moments, she enjoys checking out her social media. And she has one person that she says is her favorite to follow.
“I may be a little bias but I would have to say Corinne Wall,” she said. “She is a teammate and I admire her sense of style and her way of living.”
