Q&A with Ketchum’s Waylon Carriger – Presented By BancFirst Ketchum

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Waylon: My third-grade teacher Mrs. Chasity Hayes because she always had a way of simplifying things and always believed I could do it.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Waylon: I would go to Alaska and take my family.

VYPE: What is your all-time favorite meal?

Waylon: Brisket, ribs, coleslaw, and Mac & cheese.

VYPE: Which professional athlete do you look up to and why?

Waylon: Nolan Ryan, because no matter how much pain he was in he still kept playing.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Waylon: My parents inspire me because no matter how hard life got to them they always seemed to push through it.

VYPE: When and how did you first get into playing your sport?

Waylon: When I was little I heard stories about my dad and uncles playing baseball and I wanted to be like them so I started playing at a young age.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Waylon: Hayden Rogers, because he told me to have fun when playing and don’t take everything so seriously but still get the job done.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Waylon: The love of baseball runs in my family and so I think I’ve inherited that same love for the game.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?

Waylon: Being able to show my dedication and skill while representing my school.
