Lauren Fraley is a multi-sport athlete for the Vinita Hornets. While she enjoys competing, she also knows that in order to be successful, it requires a certain amount of work and preparation.
“It has taken a lot for me to get where I am today,” she said. “Dedication and mental toughness are necessary in order to be successful in any running sport. But I keep myself motivated by thinking about my family and friends and how I want to make them proud. Also, I stay focused on the goals I have set for myself.”
Fraley is a sophomore at Vinita High School. She runs cross country and track, amember of the basketball team, student council, and the Spanish Club. While she excels in her sports, Lauren also carries a 3.9 GPA.
Though she has put in a lot of effort and work, Fraley also has a couple of people that have impacted her life and helped her to become the person that she is today.
“One of my biggest role models is my sister Hunter,” Lauren stated. “I look up to her because she is hard-working and always tries her best no matter what the task is. Also, the teacher who has had the biggest impact on my life is my science teacher Mrs. Kennedy. She is understanding and never judges anything or anyone.”
Nathan Wylie is the cross country coach at Vinita and he appreciates Fraley, not just because of her athletic ability, but also because she works hard at whatever she does.
“Lauren is one of our best runners,” Wylie said. “She is also one of our hardest workers and she excels in the classroom.”
Fraley has made some great memories while competing in all three of her sports.
“I would have to say that the highlight of my career so far both happened last season,” she said. “I made it to state in both cross country and track. That was a really big accomplishment that I am very proud of.”
