Athletes work hard to be the best they can be at their chosen sport. While the work can be tough and grueling, the results of that work can make for some good times and memories.
Tierany Trail says that there was a moment during her sophomore year when she realized that the work she had put in was paying off.
“It has taken a lot of hard work, self- discipline, and determination to be successful,” she said. “There have been some really great moments I have had while playing sports. But I think the highlight moment in my career was when I realized that I had started playing with more confidence and it showed on the floor towards the end of my sophomore season.”
Trail, who is a junior at Vinita High School, plays basketball and runs track and cross country for the Lady Hornets. She is also involved with the student council, National Honor Society, and the Junior Lions.
There are some people in Tierany’s life that she looks up to as role models and she says that they have helped her become the person and athlete that she is.
“My mom and my nana are some of the people that I look up to the most,” she said. “They are very smart and strong women that have taught me to be who I am today. Another would have to be coach Wylie. He is now my head coach and he has always believed in my potential and just me in general and has supported me through everything. I am very grateful and blessed to be coached by him.”
The teammates that she competes alongside have also been key to the success that Trail has enjoyed. She says that they do a great job of making each other better.
“The teammate I battle with the most in practice is probably Emma Pigeon,” she said. “We both have more experience and we know each other’s strengths and weaknesses. I think that Haiden Smoke is probably the most underrated member of our team because she always works her hardest no matter what and she is always willing to get after it.”
