OFFENSE

The Adair Warriors are used to making playoff runs, but last season they made an unusually early first round exit in the first round of the Class 2A playoffs. With ten returning starters from a year ago, the Warriors feel that experience will be a huge benefit for them this season. In his twelfth season leading the Adair football program, Rob Gilstrap says that his team’s offense is going to work to strike their opponents with a strong running game and passing game. “We are going to be running the spread,” he said. “We are going to attack the field vertically and horizontally and play fast.” Leading the offense will be quarterback Reece Jackson (6-2, 185, Jr.), who has put in a lot of work in the offseason and is ready to hit the field. Two weapons that Jackson will have on the outside will be wide receivers Kolton Feathers (5-11, 180, So.) and Cale Winfrey (6-1, 160, Jr.). Another weapon that will join Jackson in the backfield will be running back Isaiah Gamez (5-9, 180, Jr.). He will look to find the openings produced by the offensive line and find his way to the endzone. Taking care of things up front will be CJ Canida (6-1, 230, Sr.) and Hayden Proctor (6-2, 220, Jr.). These offensive linemen are ready to protect Jackson and help Gamez find pay dirt.

DEFENSE

With six starters returning from last year’s Warrior defense, coach Gilstrap says that his defense will work to disrupt the opposing offense and slow them down. “We are going to run multiple 3-4 defenses,” he said. “We are going to play fast and aggressively creating pressure from all angles.” Cornerbacks James Payne (5-10, 175, Sr.) and Cooper Sparks (6-0, 165, So.) will guard the secondary and work to disrupt the opponents passing game. Playing at the linebacker positions will be Gamez, Jackson, and Proctor. These three have worked hard to become stronger and more physical in order to stop whatever the offense throws at them. Canada will anchor things on the defensive line and should be a disruption for opponents. Assistant coaches this season will be Eric McSlarrow, Josh Forrest, Brady Bradbury, and Earnie Ragland.
