Kailey Hall of Welch High School first joined the FFA in middle school thank to some encouraging words from a family member.
“I joined FFA in my eighth-grade year, but I was in Golden Rocket 4-H since I was eight,” said Hall. “It was my dad who encouraged me to join FFA.”
For Hall, there are many things she enjoys about FFA including the opportunity to show animals and meet new people from around the state.
“Being able to show my livestock is what I enjoy the most,” said Hall. “I am involved in all events that the chapter attends that involves showing livestock.”
The junior shows cattle and helps raise them.
“I show both heifers and steers,” said Hall.
Also a three-sport athlete at Welch High School, Hall said she enjoys staying busy and being part of the varsity softball team.
“I play fastpitch softball, basketball, slow-pitch softball and track. I am also in Student Council, National Honor Society and interact,” said Hall. “I love playing the game, but I also love all of the memories I have made with my teammates over the past three years. I love how my team can always make one another laugh. We have made some of the best memories. I know my team is always there for me.”
Hall also said one of her family members has been a major influence in her life.
“My Grandma Beanie has been a big influence on me. She has always been a role model of mine. She stands for everything that I hope to become one day,” said Hall.
Anyone looking to join their FFA chapter should take Hall’s advice.
“Join! Even if you don’t have any background in agriculture. FFA has something to offer everyone,” said Hall.
