Motivation can be a boost to an athletes game play. When they know they are playing for a specific reason, it makes them want to play harder and better. For some, motivation could be rewards, while others just want to see themselves improve. But for Corinne Wall, her motivation is something a little more special.
“I had a childhood friend that passed away this year,” Wall said. “I just want to make her proud in all that I do.”
Corinne is a sophomore at Miami High School, where she is a member of the cheer, soccer, and powerlifting teams. As an athlete in multiple sports, Wall has enjoyed a lot of memorable moments on and off the field of play. But she has one moment that she remembers the most and she also remember her favorite team to beat.
“Last season, we were the Academic state champs,” she said. “It was a great feeling because not only did we compete hard, we also worked hard in the classroom and that was recognized. As a team, when we go up against Crossing Christian, I always enjoy those wins a little more.”
Wall has had a number of people that have been there for her and helped her become the person that she is today.
“My sister Audrey is my role model,” she said. “She is a great example of the type of person that I want to be. Also, my teacher Mrs. Williams is someone that I look up to because she always makes my day better when I go into her class room. Lastly, Gabby Butler because she is one of the best cheer leaders I’ve ever seen.”
The teammates that Corinne competes alongside have also helped her grow and become a better athlete.
“Harper Davis is an outstanding teammate,” she said. “She works hard and is always helping other. Also, my friend Gaby is probably somewhat under appreciated. I believe that she can do more than what she believes she can and I think everyone should believe she can too.”
