Inola’s Avery Cosper – Northeast Tech Student Spotlight

If you can find something that you love to do and make a career out of it, you will be set up for a pretty happy life. For Inola’s Avery Cosper, her love is cars, and she is utilizing classes at Northeast Tech in Pryor to turn that into a career.

“I have always loved cars and working on them,” she said. “I wanted to learn more and become better at it, so I decided to go for it. I couldn’t think of anything I would enjoy doing more and I don’t regret it one bit. I am in the Automotive Service program which is a perfect fit. I first heard about Northeast Tech when we went to tour the campus as eighth graders.  I had some basic car maintenance skills so the Automotive Service program piqued my interest.”

She says that by taking these classes while in high school, she is getting a great head start on her future.

“Tech is preparing me by giving me more hands-on experiences with working in a shop around other people and on cars,” she said. “Once I graduate, I plan to attend the University of Arkansas and obtain a degree in Business Management. From there I will open my own automotive service shop.”

With a lot of different programs in many different fields, Cosper says that Northeast Tech would be a great place to get a start on your future.

“If you are considering Tech, you should go for it,” she said. “There are many careers that have roots beginning in the programs offered here and they are absolutely just as valuable and worthy as many other options. Even if you don’t pursue that career further in your life, it’s a good experience and a great way to meet new people.”

Avery is a senior at Inola High School. She is a member of the Lady Longhorns softball team, student council, and the National Honor Society. She also works part-time at Subway.
