CANEY VALLEY TROJANS

OFFENSE
The Comets of Caney Valley enter the upcoming season with a lot of confidence that they can compete with anybody. After a 5-6 record last year, and nearly every starter returning, they think if they can put the final pieces together, they can be successful. Wide receiver/tight end Daniel Barham (6-4, 205, Sr.) is a player most opposing teams will need to focus on, after he recorded 40 catches for nearly 900 yards and seven touchdowns in 2020. His quarterback from last season, Zakary Wallis (5-7, 130, Jr.) will line up at quarterback again for the Trojans, after having over 2200 total yards of offense last year, and 18 total touchdowns. Jordan Morgan (6-0, 160, Sr.) will be another experienced receiver for the Comets. Expect to see big plays from these three on Friday nights.
DEFENSE
The team will bring back seven starters from their defense. Barham and Morgan will line up on this side of the ball as well, Barham playing linebacker and Morgan playing safety. Combined, they recorded over 150 tackles and seven interceptions. Other players looking to excel on defense are Dillon Lucas (6-4, 185, Sr.), Cooper Fogle (5-7, 145, So.), and Brayden Peckham (6-2, 170, Sr.). Lucas will line up at defensive end and leads all returnees with 121 tackles, 15 sacks, and three forced turnovers last season. Fogle lines up in the secondary and recorded 109 tackles and two interceptions in 2020. Peckham lines up at both defensive tackle and defensive end and had 55 tackles and six tackles for a loss. The stats speak for themselves, and the experience on the field should lead the Trojans to success. The defense will play in a 5-2 base formation, making sure to be aggressive when it comes to swarming the ball.

COPAN HORNETS
Coach – MARSHALL FOREMAN
OFFENSE
Entering his second season as head coach for the Hornets, Marshall Foreman brings back half of his starters and expects to compete at a higher level in the upcoming season. Four starting offensive linemen return to the lineup, Kannon Foreman (6-5, 245, Sr.), Zach Sharp (6-6, 265, Sr.), Franci Sharp (6-5, 240, So.), and Wyatt Bearden (6-0, 210, Sr.). For an eight man team, having four linemen return is pretty unheard of, and with their size and experience, they are expected to produce at a high level. Also returning are quarterback Tyrek Millien (5-10, 140, Sr.) and tight end Colby Smith (6-2, 180, Jr.). Millien is a standout waiting to happen, being able to throw, run, and do everything in between. Levi Vanshuyver is an underclassman to keep a close eye on, having the potential to be a star on Friday nights due to his work ethic and athleticism. The Hornets expect to run their offense out of a pistol formation, looking for mismatches.
DEFENSE
The defense brings back five starters from last year and have four players that will try to lead the team after starting last season. Noah Cobb (5-10, 150, Jr.) and Millien will play in the secondary, using their speed and agility as much as possible. Sharp and Foreman will line up at defensive end. Foreman is expected to pick up where he left off on defense, earning first team all defense as a junior, and also recorded the highest GPA on the team. Even through his dominant play last season, he is expected to show vast improvement.
